ROBLOX Updates Realistic Physics

MaterialSlope
For many years, ROBLOX has had one of the most realistic physics engines for a sandbox-based game. Many students and teachers used ROBLOX to demonstrate the laws of physics and many classroom projects were completed on ROBLOX. However, with recent updates for materials, some physics in the game have become less realistic.

For example, ROBLOX will implement a new property. Known as Custom Physical Properties, this new section can change a brick's density, friction, and elasticity. It will also come changed when you change the materials of bricks.

A brick's density will change how easily it is moved and how easily it can move other objects. Friction has been coming changed by default on bricks with ice material but will also be available to be changed on bricks with other materials.

Since this is a major overhaul in ROBLOX's physics engine, ROBLOX wants to give creators the option to experiment with this (it will not be turned on by default) before making the switch to having Custom Physical Properties on for all bricks.

The option to turn on Custom Physical Properties will be listed under a brick's Behavior and will be set to Default mode as default (how original). Developers will have the option to use either the old physics or experiment with the new properties.

ROBLOX has released a three-month plan to roll this option out to all developers. In month one, users will have the choice of turning the property on (as mentioned above). In the second month, Custom Physical Properties will be set to New mode by default, giving creators the option to revert back to old settings. Finally, the option to revert back will be removed in the last month and all users will have to get used to the new Physical Properties.

These new properties give game makers a new, more customize-able arsenal of tools and options to tweak a game to its fullest potential. Now, creators can change maps to better suit their creative visions.

The Removal of Tix: A Look Back

ROBLOX removed their free currency "Tix" in 2016 Logging in every day to get free money, who wouldn't want that? ROBLOX used to award players 10 tickets, or "Tix" as they were abbreviated, for logging in every day to use to buy hats, clothing, and gear. However, as the game grew in popularity, the folks at ROBLOX began seeing less and less of a reason to reward people for logging in. "The games are what will bring them," they thought. Were they right?

Hotel Transylvania 2 - ROBLOX Event

This fall, ROBLOX is hosting an event sponsored by the new Hotel Transylvania 2 movie (if you haven't seen the first, it was ok). In this event, ROBLOX is giving away some cool new hats.

ROBLOX and 8-Bit Hats

ROBLOX has released many 8-Bit hats over the course of its "hat-making history", but recently it has gone a little overboard. 8-bit hats are a certain type of hat that ROBLOX has created that looks pixelated (made up of large pixels or unclear). However, that hats are actually composed of many small cubes (yes, the hats are in 3d). I was fine with the 8-bit Top Hat, Fedora, Sword, and even the Viking Helmet! 8-Bit Phoenix by ROBLOX Then, everything changed when the fire nation attacked they decided to release the 8-bit Phoenix and the 8-bit Sombrero.
